Ai Yazawa (矢沢あい Yazawa Ai) is the pen name for the author of Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai. Yazawa has written many other popular series after Ten-nai.

Yazawa made her manga artist debut in the magazine, Ribon with Ano Natsu. Many of her early series continued to be published in Ribon including Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai.

Early lifeEdit

Ai Yazawa had studied at a fashion school, after high school, but dropped out a year later. She began writting, and drawing manga in 1985.

Tenshi Nanka Ja NaiEdit

Her first series to garner popularity was Ten-nai, which spawned eight volumes. An OVA adaption was made near the completion of the manga, and an artbook was released sometime in 1994.

Later lifeEdit

In June, 2009, Yazawa contracted an illness, which she was hospitalized for, putting her manga, Nana on hold. She returned from the hospital in April, 2010, but it is still unknown if she will continue writting, Nana.[1]
